Our team has been providing multilingual and court interpretation services in Canada and the United States since 2001. We began operating in Quebec City and Montreal, and in recent years have also been serving clients in Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver and the Maritimes.
But our team has grown particularly in Trois-Rivières, where we now have two full teams of interpreters.
Trois-Rivières has an interesting past, as it was where the interpreters of the government of New France were posted in the 17th century. This choice by the colonial authorities was no coincidence: Trois-Rivières was located at the convergence of several zones of influence, including those of the Innu in the East, the Anicinabek and Wendat in the West, the Atikamekw in the North and the Haudenausonee in the South and West, as well as being at the mid-point of the Laurentian colony, between Quebec City, where the headquarters of government were located, and Montreal, the hub of the fur trade. Trois-Rivières was therefore a diplomatic and strategic centre where interpreters were in great demand.
Today, however, the expansion of our team in Trois-Rivières may have more to do with chance than historical continuity, but it's a nice coincidence all the same.
